Living on campus is a growth experience for many college students. The University Housing and Residential Engagement teams provide the support and resources you need to form a community with your fellow students and make the most of living on campus.
The Housing and Residential Engagement teams manage four on-campus residential communities: DeSmet Hall, O’Connell Hall, West Hall and Residence Village. They also manage an off-campus residential community at Boryla Apartments (on King Ave). Each residential community has a trained residential housing specialist available to help residents of each building.
During the academic year, each residential community is staffed by an Assistant Director on the Residential Engagement team, a Lead Community Advisor, many Community Development Assistants (CDAs) and Peer Ministers. These staff members collaborate to promote the quality of the community through educational programming, career development, spiritual guidance, social activities and advising.
Each residential room is fully furnished and all units include internet access. Depending on the building, the residential communities are co-ed by wing, suite, townhome, apartment or floor. All residential communities feature free laundry facilities and community lounges with expanded basic cable television.
All incoming first-year students must complete the 2025-2026 Housing Application - even if they plan to request a housing exemption. Within the application, students can access the Housing Exemption Form which opened on March 10, 2025.
Students may qualify for an exemption if they meet one or more of the following:
Students who do not meet one of those criteria will not be approved for exemption. We recommend students check with Financial Aid before submitting a request, as living off-campus may impact their aid package.
Important: The deadline to submit exemption requests is August 1, 2025. No late submissions will be reviewed. After this date, all first- and second-year students without an approved exemption will be assigned campus housing and billed accordingly. The only exception: students who enroll within five days of the deadline will have their requests reviewed individually.
Reminder: Exemptions do not carry over from year to year. Students must reapply annually if they meet the criteria.
All first-year students under age 21 will be placed in DeSmet Hall, our dedicated first-year community (based on availability). O'Connell Hall will serve as our overflow option if needed.
DeSmet Hall Highlights:
Sophomore students are also required to live on campus unless approved for an exemption (see the First-Year Students section above for details on the exemption process).
Sophomores may live in O'Connell Hall or West Hall.
Incoming transfer students may live in O'Connell Hall or West Hall if they have already lived in a college/university residence hall for at least two consecutive semesters (not including summer semesters), or are over the age of 21.
Juniors, seniors, and graduate students may live in the Residence Village, the Vincent J. Boryla Apartments or West Hall.
All first- and second-year, degree-seeking students who are enrolled full-time are required to live on campus for the entire academic year (fall and spring semesters). Exemptions may be granted through the Housing Exemption Request Form.
Research indicates that living on campus positively impacts several key student outcomes, such as:
These outcomes enhance students' overall educational experiences and contribute to their success at Regis University.
First and second-year students must meet at least one of the following qualifications to apply for a housing exemption:
Students who do not meet one of those criteria will not be approved for exemption. We recommend students check with Financial Aid before submitting a request, as living off-campus may impact their aid package.
