HCA 425: Assessment of Quality Care and Patient Safety
Review the history and theory of quality management in health care settings with emphasis on patient safety, satisfaction and engagement and the patient/client experience.
Some of the most important unsung heroes in health care are the medical administrators, patient safety supervisors, care managers, patient navigators and insurance coordinators who ensure the day-to-day operations of hospitals and clinics run smoothly. While nurses and doctors are on the front lines of care, they are supported in their work by a legion of competent and compassionate administrative and support staff who are committed to improving patient outcomes.

Medical Practice Managers are responsible for the management of a medical office. Medical Practice Managers should expect to communicate with clients on a daily basis, provide staff training, hire new employees, and ensure that all medical laws are being followed.
Clinical Operations Managers are normally employed by organizations and manage the daily operations of the medical branch in the organization. Clinical Operations Managers should expect to oversee employees and ensure that the required tasks are being completed in a timely manner.
Health Services Managers are in charge of the operation of one or multiple healthcare facilities such as hospitals and nursing homes. Health Service Managers typically handle multiple aspects of the facility such as finances, hiring and training new employees, and keeping track of patient records.
Outcomes Analysts track and measure data provided by health care facilities and practices regarding the outcomes of their services and make recommendations to improve health outcomes while considering the workings and limitations of health facilities and staff.
Patient Safety Supervisors implement and manage protocols to ensure that patients are safe at healthcare facilities. Patient Safety Supervisors should expect to review all safety incidents involving patients and employees that occur at the health care facility.
Health Insurance Specialists are responsible for the management of medical claims, patient records and medical coding. In addition to the administrative responsibilities, Health Insurance Specialists should expect to communicate with patients on a daily basis about topics such as billing and medical benefits.
