Tyler Imfeld is an evolutionary ecologist whose research seeks to unravel the origins of avian biodiversity, especially the remarkable diversity of songbirds found throughout the Americas. He earned his BS in Biology from Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH and completed his PhD in Ecology, Evolution and Behavior at the University of Minnesota and its affiliated Bell Museum. Tyler’s research extensively uses natural history collections and integrates both molecular and morphological data collected from specimens in these collections to answer evolutionary, ecological, and taxonomic questions. In addition to using these specimens for his research, Tyler frequently makes use of natural history collections to enrich the learning of his students in his classes and for learners of all ages through outreach programming.
