Sarah Kurash is an Instructor in the School of Nursing at Regis University. She has experience as a nurse educator in both clinical and didactic settings. In addition, she has diverse experience in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental disorders across the lifespan. Sarah also brings specialized knowledge in forensic mental health, patient rights, and mental health law after over ten years of experience working with this specialized population. She is a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) and also holds special certification in Medication Assistant Treatment (MAT). She is particularly interested in partnering with her clients to achieve optimal wellness through educating them and supporting them through their journey on the mental health continuum.
Sarah’s main goal as an educator is to provide students with a comprehensive educational experience where they feel comfortable exploring and inquiring about the many facets of becoming a competent and confident mental health provider. She applies the Jesuit value of contemplatives in action when encouraging students to not just explore the very surface of client concerns, but to take action to learn about the individual in a deeper sense to encourage and aid clients in making positive lifestyle changes that will lead to better outcomes. She wants her students to know that learning is an ongoing process and they should never be fearful of reflecting on their practice and making conscious efforts to improve.
