Applied Craft Brewing Certificate Program Director
Matthew is currently the owner of a yeast propagation laboratory that provides high quality liquid yeast to craft brewers. He is also a professional beer judge and provides consulting services to the brewing industry. Previously he has performed research in the biofuel industry with GMO yeast. This work included overseeing a million-dollar yeast propagation program and working in the world’s first isobutanol plant. Matthew first started working with yeast in his graduate program studying DNA damage repair genes. This work led to a position at CU Denver in the biochemistry department studying chromatin and histone remodeling. Matthew currently directs the Craft Brewing Certificate Program. In his spare time he enjoys homebrewing, ultra-running, and reading science fiction.
