Katie Kaufman Rogers is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anthropology, Sociology, and Criminal Justice at Regis University. Dr. Rogers earned her Ph.D. in Sociology at the University of Texas at Austin with a doctoral portfolio in Women’s and Gender Studies. Her research investigates the intersections of race, gender, and class; work and organizational inequity; and crime, law, and deviance.
Supported by the National Science Foundation, Dr. Rogers’ latest research project is a multi-method study of cannabis legalization in the United States. By analyzing her observations in cannabis dispensaries, in-depth interviews with workers and entrepreneurs, and content analyses of legalization campaigns, news media, and retail advertising, this study seeks to uncover who benefits and who is left behind in a highly commercialized approach to weed legalization.
Dr. Rogers’ work is published in peer-reviewed journals such as Law & Society Review and has won multiple awards from the American Sociological Association and Sociologists for Women in Society. At Regis, she teaches introductory and advanced courses in sociology and criminology.
