How do we make sense of lived experiences? How do culture and social interactions influence this process? If knowledge is power, then these research questions explore how social inequalities influence the way people understand their lives. Currently, my research explores how people construct the meaning of intimate partner violence and how that may influence the way victims/survivors recognize violence in their lives and seek help. As a teacher, I want to help students take psychological theories and apply them to real life cases and experiences. Through understanding others, we gain a better understanding of ourselves and our own experiences. Because I love collaborating with others, I welcome curious students to conduct research with me. My favorite research is qualitative, and my preferred methods are systematic literature review, frame analysis, discourse analysis, and interpretive phenomenological analysis. Fun fact: I collect cookbooks and love cooking new dishes. I also sing to my cats every day.
