Dr. Maniscalco completed his PhD in Neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh, where he investigated the impact of caloric deficit on neural and behavioral stress responses in rats. After spending time as a life sciences and pharmaceutical consultant at West Monroe Partners, he completed postdoctoral training at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). At UIC he expanded on his previous work, demonstrating that caloric deficit attenuates acquisition of conditioned taste aversion, a classical conditioning phenomenon. At Regis, Dr. Maniscalco utilizes behavioral, pharmacological, and immunohistochemical approaches to understand the mechanisms by which food restriction alters neural stress responses and anxiety-like behavior.
