Carol Wallman

Dr. Wallman enjoys blending her clinical and professional association experiences into her classroom teaching. She loves working with adult learners to enhance their critical thinking skills rather than just memorizing and reciting information. She utilizes a variety of pedagogical approaches to meet learners needs including storytelling and Socratic questioning. She completed training in simulation and debriefing at the Center for Advanced Perinatal Education at Stanford University and utilizes these skills in simulation scenarios and skills performance days for neonatal nurse practitioner students.

Dr. Wallman embraces Jesuit values such as “How ought we to live” and incorporates them into her classroom by discussing care for the vulnerable and underserved populations. This is reflected in ongoing commitment to advocating for women with substance use disorders and neonates impacted by fetal and perinatal substance exposures. She also incorporates the value of contemplatives in action by including student reflections in course work.
