Dr. Amy L. Balogh is Lead Lecturer of the Humanities in Regis College where she teaches a variety of courses in Religious Studies, including courses on myth, Judaism, comparative religions, and theories and methods. Her doctoral degree is in the Study of Religion from the University of Denver and Iliff School of Theology, and her area of specialization is the Hebrew Bible and ancient Near East. Her first book, Moses among the Idols: Mediators of the Divine in the Ancient Near East, was published with Lexington Books / Fortress Press in 2018. She is currently working on her second book, which uses comparison and myth theory to examine the tension between humankind and nature as expressed in the Hebrew Bible and other ancient Near Eastern literatures. In 2021, Dr. Balogh received the SPA Dean’s Award for Research Excellence after being nominated by her colleagues.
Outside of Regis, Dr. Balogh is also the founding president of the Religion & Bible Society of the Rocky Mountain Great Plains Region, and the founder and co-chair of the Society of Biblical Literature program unit Comparative Method in Biblical Studies. She also serves as a regular author and editor for Lexham Press, and is the newest co-host of the podcast Biblical World.
