Alison Sheesley

Alison Sheesley is the Director of the Regis Center for Play Therapy and an Assistant Professor in the School of Mental and Behavioral Health. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Registered Play Therapist who focuses on attachment in her clinical work. Her role a mother of two children also greatly informs her perspective. She received her undergraduate degree cum laude from Tulane University and her master’s degree from Loyola University New Orleans, another wonderful Jesuit university. She moved to Colorado from New Orleans and earned her doctorate in counselor education and supervision from the University of Northern Colorado in 2017. Her current research interests are varied and include the therapeutic applications of the practice of improv comedy and many topics related to child-centered play therapy. She continues to work in private practice as a play therapist for all ages at Comedy Is Therapy. She remains in awe of the healing power of laughter and play and attends comedy shows whenever she can.
