Luis Alvarez has been working with at-risk youth and families since 1997. His passion for this unique population began with work at a boarding school in Arizona. Since then, he has dedicated his career to the service of vulnerable teens and families in both conventional and unconventional settings. His professional experiences range from youth corrections, community mental health agencies, and Wrap-around facilitation, to residential settings involving canoes in the Florida swamps and in the mountains surrounding the San Luis Valley. Luis received his Master’s of Arts in Counseling from Northern Arizona University in 2003. From 2010-2013 he owned and operated a wilderness-based residential treatment program which he designed that embodied his counseling philosophy.
