Habegger's doctorate and early research focused on the historical theater of the Franco era and twentieth-century Spanish literature; since her arrival at Regis, her research produced presentations and publications that explore the iconography and the semiotics of the traditional arts of the American Southwest and Spain. Habegger's earlier studies in Interior Design combined with her interest in the artistic production of contemporary Spain have led to the investigation of the recent phenomenon of the iconic wineries of Spain designed by widely renowned architects. Recent professional and personal trips to the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, and Peru have also informed her awareness of the cultural aesthetics of the Hispanic world. Habegger was awarded the status of Professor Emerita by Regis College in 2022.
