Dr. Lafosse earned his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Southern California after earning a B.A. in psychology from Loyola Marymount University. His doctoral studies included a year-long neuropsychology internship at the Palo Alto V.A. Medical Center and Stanford University Medical Center. He then completed a 3-year neuropsychology residency in the Department of Neurology at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine. Dr. Lafosse was named a fellow of the National Academy of Neuropsychology in 2013 for significant contributions to the field of neuropsychology.
Dr. Lafosse taught several courses at Regis, including the country’s only undergraduate neuropsychology lab class. He is a native Spanish speaker who often guest-lectured at universities in Peru, and he was a visiting professor at the University of Sao Paulo School of Medicine in Brazil in 2011. Besides teaching, Dr. Lafosse has published in the top scientific journals in neuropsychology. He has also served on the Education Committee of the Brain Injury Alliance of Colorado, the Medical-Scientific Committee of the Alzheimer’s Association Colorado Chapter, the Diversity Committee of the National Academy of Neuropsychology, and as Treasurer of the Hispanic Neuropsychological Society. Dr. Lafosse is one of 55 national delegates to the Minnesota 2022 Conference, which will set educational and training guidelines for the field of neuropsychology.
Dr. Lafosse retired early from Regis University in 2022 with the distinction of Professor Emeritus so that he could focus on his thriving private practice, Lafosse Neuropsychology. He is a board-certified forensic and clinical neuropsychologist, with offices in Denver and San Diego. As a forensic neuropsychologist, he works on civil, criminal, and probate cases. Dr. Lafosse is regularly hired as an expert witness on brain injury cases by attorneys across the United States. As a clinical neuropsychologist, he sees adult patients with neurological disorders. He is also a consulting neuropsychologist at Craig Hospital in Denver, which specializes in treating patients with traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury. Dr. Lafosse always enjoyed integrating his extensive clinical, forensic, and academic experiences into his teaching at Regis, where he had the privilege to join the faculty in 2003. After his own enriching Jesuit education at Loyola Marymount University, it was a true blessing for Dr. Lafosse to educate students in the Jesuit tradition at Regis University.
