Steven Bennett, Ph.D. LPC, is a Professor Emeritus in the School of Mental and Behavioral Health at Regis University and taught Counseling & Spirituality and Qualitative Research with an interest in Post-Modern Therapies, Narrative Therapy, Phenomenology and Spiritual Psychology. He also taught clinical coursework and supervised counselors-in-training, focusing upon the healing dimensions of the experiential thresholds of stories – narratives of a personal, communal, scientific, cultural and religious/spiritual nature. He has a particular research interest in the loss of narrative identity and continuity in our culture in the face of overwhelming technological advances, particularly in its effects upon children and the elderly. This loss of narrative identity is prevalent in ADHD, the poverty of political and cultural conversation, the cultural prevalence of Anxiety and the rise of Alzheimer’s. He has previously been the Director of the Center for Narrative and Strategic Family Therapy in Springfield, Missouri and Heart Works Center in Westminster, Colorado. He maintains an individual and family therapy practice in Boulder.
He received his Ph.D. from the University of Dallas, with an emphasis in Depth and Cultural Psychology. His master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health from Duquesne University focused upon the practices of phenomenological methods of inquiry for the human sciences.
