Tyler Farr teaches Applied Saxophone at Regis University.
Tyler’sprofessional teaching experience also includes private instruction and public school teaching at the primary and secondary levels. He is employed by West Ridge Elementary as the full-time general music educator for all grade levels
Tyler has performed and recorded throughout the Rocky Mountain region, with numerous jazz groups. He has performed at jazz festivals such as the Five Point Jazz Fest, Park City Jazz Festival, Reno Jazz Festival, and the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival. Other performances include City Park Jazz, KUVO 89.3 performance studio and the Arvada Summer Concert series. Tyler has performed with several International jazz musicians including Eric Marienthal, Dennis DiBalsio, Tom Harrell, Carl Saunders, Andy Martin, Peter Olstad, Ed Calle, and Jim McNeely.
Tyler earned a Bachelor of Music with emphasis in performance at Utah State University and continued my education at the University of Colorado-Boulder where he earned a Masters Degree in Jazz Pedagogy and Performance. While at the University of Colorado, Tyler was a Graduate Assistant for the Jazz Studies Department. Tyler has had the opportunity to utilize his jazz theory and transcribing skills with publications in DownBeat Magazine and Saxophone Journal.
