Dr. Lisanne Brown is a senior leader and manager who has directed global and domestic health and development programs for more than 20 years, working at the nexus of public health, health care, and social services in complex systems. She has led and managed staff in nonprofit and academic settings as well as ensuring mentoring and professional development experiences for both staff and interns. She recently joined Abt Associates as Principal Associate working across health and environment projects. In her 12 years on the Leadership Team at the Louisiana Public Health Institute (LPHI), Dr. Brown co-led the growth and development of the organization through strategic planning, development of new partnerships and new program areas, and securing new projects. In collaboration with other senior LPHI staff, Lisanne led the development of LPHI-wide responses to disaster response and community resilience projects along the vulnerable Gulf Coast that integrated program implementation with evaluation and research. Recently, results from the Health Impact Assessment (HIA) she led of a planned gas plant in a vulnerable community in New Orleans galvanized community engagement and influenced policy and program action. Dr. Brown has more than 2 decades of writing journal articles and technical and evaluation reports. She is a frequent presenter at conferences and technical meetings and is experienced at presenting evaluation results to multi-stakeholder meetings and debriefings. She has worked extensively with country teams and governments in New Orleans as well as Africa and Asia. Dr. Brown is fluent in professional French and continues to teach and mentor all levels of students as an Adjunct Associate Professor at two different Tulane graduate schools.
