Ed Cannava is the Director of Bands at Regis University.
Dr. Cannava was a public school music educator for 32 years, culminating with his 22-year tenure as director of bands at Arapahoe High School in Centennial, Colorado. He received his music education degrees from the University of Colorado. Cannava has had ensembles perform in many invitational performances over his career including: numerous feature performances by his junior and senior high concert, jazz and chamber ensembles at the Colorado Music Educators Association Clinic/Conferences; the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade; two Carnegie Hall Concerts; the American School Band Directors Association National Convention; the New Year’s Eve Vienna, Austria Parade; and the London New Year’s Day Parade. Under Dr. Cannava’s direction, Arapahoe High School was twice recognized as a Grammy Signature School. He received an NBA Citation of Excellence Award, a Phi Beta Mu – Colorado Outstanding Band Director of the Year Award, and was inducted into the Colorado Music Educators Association Hall of Fame in 2017, along with an induction into the Colorado Bandmasters Association Hall of Fame in 2019. Cannava is active as a guest clinician, conductor, adjudicator and consultant in Colorado, California, Washington, Nevada, Utah, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Tennessee.
