BYU Secures Regional Title, Advances to National Cyber Defense Championship
Denver - After an intense two-day battle of cybersecurity skills and strategy, Brigham Young University emerged victorious at the 2025 Rocky Mountain Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (RMCCDC), earning the honor of representing the Rocky Mountain Region at the upcoming National Championship.
The competition, held on March 7-8, brought together eight elite collegiate teams from across the region to test their abilities in defending critical infrastructure against sophisticated cyber-attacks. BYU's team demonstrated exceptional technical prowess, communication skills, and grace under pressure to secure the top position. The University of Kansas claimed second place and will advance to the virtual National Wildcard competition on April 9, where they'll have another opportunity to qualify for the national championship.
"The level of talent displayed by all participating teams was remarkable," said Bob Bowles, Director of Regis University’s Center for Information Assurance Studies at Anderson College of Business and Computing. "These students represent the next generation of cybersecurity professionals who will be protecting our nation's most critical systems."
The final standings for the 2025 RMCCDC were:

2. University of Kansas
3. University of Colorado – Boulder
4. Utah Valley University
