Regis University Hosted 14th Annual Rocky Mountain Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition
Regis University hosted the 14th Rocky Mountain Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (RMCCDC) March 8-9. Eight university and college teams from the four-state Rocky Mountain region demonstrated their skills in cybersecurity.
The RMCCDC is a unique challenge, as the top-performing teams assume the role of a security operations team defending a fictitious company against a team of up to 20 professional ethical hackers. This competition emphasizes the operational aspect of managing and safeguarding a "commercial" network infrastructure while preserving core business competencies.
The eight teams represented:
- Brigham Young University (BYU)
- Southern Utah University
- Colorado School of Mines
- University of Colorado Boulder
- United States Air Force Academy
- BYU Idaho
- Utah Valley University
- University of Colorado, Colorado Springs
After two days of intense competition, BYU won and will advance to represent the Rocky Mountain Region at the National Championship April 25-27 in San Antonio, Texas. The Colorado School of Mines took second place and will compete in a wild card play-off against the other wild card teams on Tuesday, April 9. The winner of the competition will also advance to the National Championship.
We wish to congratulate BYU, Colorado School of Mines, and all the competing universities and colleges on a job well done!
