How to Lay the Foundations for a Health Care Career
Introducing the Graduate Certificate in Biomedical Sciences.
Thinking about becoming a doctor, dentist or physician assistant, but aren’t sure where to start? You’re in good company. A career in health care often requires years of study, exceptional levels of dedication and no small amount of financial resources. Luckily, we can help you test the waters and find out if the health care profession is right for you.
If you’ve been considering medical, dental or PA school, Regis University’s Graduate Certificate in Biomedical Sciences can help you gain important skills and knowledge needed in advanced health care roles. Through a rigorous 9-month program, you’ll gain foundational experience in biomedical research, including gross anatomy labs, as well as bioethical courses inspired by our Jesuit Catholic values.
Our certificate program is designed for students who have completed an undergraduate degree and basic undergraduate science course work seeking to enter a graduate program in the health sciences fields, including medicine, dentistry and biomedical research. The program requires a hands-on research experience in the fall and a 100-hour applied clinical or research externship in the winter/spring.
The certificate is an excellent way to gain academic confidence and professional experience, which can help to solidify career direction. Career advising is available to and encouraged for all our students. Almost all credits earned in the certificate program can be transferred to the M.S. Biomedical Sciences should you choose to pursue a full master’s degree.
Through courses in human anatomy, biomedical genetics, ethics and more, you’ll gain important foundational knowledge that will help you continue your studies in medical, dental or PA school, bolstering your professional school applications and preparing you for a career in health care. You will also gain important skills used by biomedical researchers, epidemiologists and public health experts around the world.
