Don’t just take our word for it. Meet Dave Samuel, a recent Regis graduate and technology leader, who has built his career leading teams and leveraging information systems.
Dave Samuel, ‘16
Despite triple majoring in business, French and economics as an undergraduate, Dave Samuel retained his lifelong fascination with technology and programming throughout his early career. He eventually came to Regis in 2014 to earn his master’s degree and advance his IT management and information systems career. Today, he wears many hats as an IT leader, educator, mentor and Chief Information Officer. In his varied roles, he helps organizations successfully design and implement all aspects of hardware, software, infrastructure, customer service and helpdesk.
How does your Regis education impact your work today?
Dave: I get to paint a picture of a better tomorrow for leadership and the company. Regis taught me how to think of business from a technology perspective, and how to think of technology from a business perspective.
Did you find value in small class sizes and faculty mentorship?
Dave: Yes, absolutely. Small class sizes facilitate relationships with professors and fellow students. I found faculty accessible and willing to mentor. In small classes, you get the opportunity to ask some really penetrating questions.
What was the most valuable thing you learned at Regis?
Dave: I learned how to write and present a viable argument and support my position such that it becomes difficult to refute. [The Regis program] augmented my previous technology experience and taught me how to think differently about what I was putting on paper.
Any advice for aspiring IT leaders?
Dave: Find great mentors and don’t let them go. Regis enables you to be a lifelong learner — take advantage of that and enjoy it. Focus on people, process and technology — but always people first.
