In-person attendance at Ranger sporting events resumes
"No fans" rule at Regis University home games was lifted May 3
Regis University has lifted the “no fans” rule at home athletic events that was instituted in mid-March to ensure the safety of student-athletes and the University community during the spring sports season. The rule, which was lifted Monday, comes a few days before Regis University hosts the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women’s Lacrosse Tournament on May 7 and May 9 at the Regis Match Pitch.
The rule was necessary to safeguard classes and games through the spring semester while providing players with as safe a controlled environment as possible during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Student-athletes have carefully adhered to public health guidance and NCAA rules, which required them to stay within their team ‘bubbles,’ or controlled environments,” said Athletics Director David Spafford. “It has been a tenuous year with all of the changes while coordinating six different entities’ protocols. I am proud of our student-athletes, staff, Regis Community and our fans for working through all of the challenges this year.”
Following the city and county of Denver’s “Level Blue” phase requirements, the University will have hand sanitizer stations at all Regis sporting events and spectators will be strongly encouraged to wear a face-covering upon entering all events, including those held outside. Fans will need to remain seated within the group they arrive, groups will need to remain 6 feet apart from other groups, and all groups must remain at 10 or fewer people.
People who are experiencing COVID-19-related symptoms are asked not to attend Regis University sporting events.
Spectators will be reminded of these and other COVID-19 mitigation efforts during pre-game and half-time announcements at every game.
Tickets are available for pre-game sales only at Regis Rangers. Pre-packaged concessions will be sold by credit card only.
“We look forward to seeing our students, faculty, staff and neighbors come cheer on our student-athletes for the remainder of our games this season,” Spafford said.
Fans are encouraged to follow the Rangers’ teams via live stream broadcasts at Regis Rangers, if they are unable to attend in person.
