Welcome to the digital age where, for better or worse, not only are your bank accounts online, so are the transactions and records of the nation’s major financial institutions. In fact, most of the country’s business is transacted online now, meaning everything from supply chain secrets to health records and voter registration lists live online, tempting hackers to uncover them.
A report from IBM indicates a 27.9 percent likelihood of repeat data breach over the next two years – which is an increase from 2017’s 27.7 percent. Cybercrimes will continue to rise, and so will the need for cybersecurity professionals. Now, more than ever, cybersecurity is vital to our increasingly technological age.
Fueled by copious amounts of caffeine and a desire to protect our shared digital existence, cybersecurity professionals are the tip of the spear when it comes to safeguarding the public from the malware writers, cyber spies and cyber criminals collectively known as black hat hackers, and other online scoundrels.
Regis University is thrilled to join the good fight with our Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity. We look forward to training the next generation of digital protectors, who will be tasked with keeping our personal data and online footprint hidden from those who wish to do harm.
In 2018, Regis received a U.S. government grant of nearly $1 million to focus on cybersecurity and develop a curriculum that can be adopted across the country. Thanks to this partnership with Uncle Sam, we’ve developed a multidisciplinary approach that will give graduates the skills they need to thrive in this growing profession.
The Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity program is now accepting undergraduate students for the upcoming term. We also offer graduate level degrees and stackable cybersecurity certificates. The job outlook for cybersecurity experts has never been better—according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of information security analysts is expected to grow by 32 percent through 2028, with the median pay around $100,000 annually. And of the candidates who apply for those positions, fewer than one in four are qualified.
