Welcome to Dinosaur Ridge

Regis University Alumni Association

We are starting a new segment for May! It is called May We Visit? We will highlight four different things you can do in Denver during Alumni Weekend: July 17th-19th. There are a lot of great things to do in Denver, but these are staff favorites! Feel free to leave suggestions in the comments and check back on Tuesdays in the month of May. Our second suggestion is a trek through time, which celebrates the Colorado State Dinosaur the Stegosaurus. Dinosaur Ridge is just a 20 minute drive from Regis and offers a glimpse 150 million years back in time. We enjoy the area because it is great for people of all ages and includes: short hikes, tours, dinosaur tracks, indoor exhibit hall, and bone dig. They are open from 9 am to 5 pm. Make sure to visit during Alumni Weekend, and see their website for more information: http://www.dinoridge.org

Physical Therapy 20th Anniversary Alumni Day (Copy)

Regis University Alumni Association

Please join us in celebrating 20 years of Physical Therapy at Regis University! The first physical therapy students arrived on the Regis campus in January 1995, starting what would become the School of Physical Therapy. Twenty years later, we are now a top-ranked, nationally recognized School with over 1,200 alumni from the MS, DPT, Transition DPT, and fellowship programs. Given that level of success, it is time to celebrate! The School invites alumni to come back to Regis for day of re-connecting, learning, and celebrating. Alumni are encourage to participate in a continuing education course and a happy hour that will kick-off the School’s new PT Alumni Fund. School of PT alumni & faculty will be hosting one day-long course (8:30 am - 4:30 pm) on Saturday: 1. Managing Complex Head & Neck Disorders: Best Practice for Concussion, Whiplash, Vestibular Conditions” by alumni Jim Elliott (MSPT, 1998), & Jamie Wahab (DPT, 2003) This course meets Category II Continued Competencies for CO PTs. This course will have lecture & lab components and will be restricted to 80 people. All alumni are invited to attend a social time from 5:00-6:00 pm in the Claver Hall Commons where alumni can engage with friends old and new and meet with current and past faculty. Classes celebrating special anniversaries will have designated areas where they can reconnect with classmates. Cash bar & light snacks. All proceeds from the day will fund the School of PT Alumni Fund. This fund will be used to support ongoing alumni events on and off campus, support alumni & students involved in our global health immersions, and our new Distinguished Lecture series.

Katie Royer – a 2004 Regis College Alumna – has been battling Crohn’s Disease since 1994. Despite this, Katie graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in pre-law with an emphasis in public relations, accompanied by a double minor in psychology and politics. Unfortunately, her disease recently worsened, preventing Katie from working. Her friends have started a Give Forward fundraiser to help Katie pay her medical bills and if the goal is reached, the Give Forward team will make a contribution as well. If you would like to support a member of our Regis family, please visit http://ow.ly/MvjNm. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Katie! Best wishes!

There are a lot of great things to do in Denver, but these are staff favorites! Feel free to leave suggestions in the comments and check back on Tuesdays in the month of May. Our first suggestion is food based and close to home. The Noshery opened in 2014 and serves sandwiches, soup, salad, coffee, and delicious pastries. We love to stop by for our morning coffee on our way to work and the scones are always extremely tempting. They are open from 7 am to 4 pm. Make sure to visit during Alumni Weekend, and see some of their delicious food @TheNoshery.
