To Err is Human—an Institute of Medicine piece reveals “as many as 98,000 people die in any given year from medical errors that occur in hospitals. That’s more than die from motor vehicle accidents, breast cancer or AIDS—three causes that receive far more public attention-or akin to a 747 going down every day.”
Responding to growing industry demand to improve patient safety, Regis University has teamed with several leading health organizations to create a Post-Bachelor’s Certificate in Quality and Patient Safety. This certificate provides students a base of quality improvement theory, the tools to measure statistical change and the leadership to implement patient safety/performance improvement initiatives. Thus, improving the quality of health care received from senior management to daily beside care. The program includes 12 credit hours at the graduate level and can be taken in conjunction with the Master’s in Health Service Administration or as a standalone certificate. One or two pre-requisite courses may be required depending on the student’s prior professional and/or academic background. For more information, please contact the Office of Admissions.
