Study Abroad

Who, What, When, Where, and How

Who can study abroad?

Regis College students holding Junior or Senior standing. Nursing students may go abroad during their Sophomore year. Student must possess the GPA required for the selected program (most programs require a 3.0 – some ask for a higher GPA, a few accept a lower GPA). Student must be in good disciplinary standing (i.e. no habitual disciplinary problems, not currently in the judiciary process, not on probation).

What does it cost to study abroad?

Regis tuition and housing fee (equivalent to a double room in West Hall) will be charged. Students are allowed to use their financial aid award towards study abroad. There is a $150.00 non-refundable Study Abroad application fee.

What does the cost include?

Cost includes tuition and housing abroad. Many programs also include insurance, orientation, and in-country support. Some programs include excursions as well.

What additional costs can a student expect to incur?

The student is responsible for the costs of airfare, student visa fee and costs incurred obtaining the document, meals, books, health insurance (if not provided through the program), and personal expenses. Due to the weakening U.S. dollar, a number of programs currently exceed the cost of Regis tuition and housing. If the selected program exceeds the Regis fee, the additional cost is the responsibility of the student.

When are Study Abroad applications due?

Students apply for study abroad the semester prior to their intended departure. The application deadline varies by semester, check with the Office of Study Abroad for the exact due date.

Where can I pick up an application and/or get more information about studying abroad?

Contact the Office of Study Abroad – Loyola 12 or call 303-458-4968. Direct email correspondence to mcook@regis.edu .

How long can a student study abroad?

Students may study for a semester or a full academic year abroad. Much depends on the student’s degree plan and academic flexibility. Students should speak with their advisors as to the best time frame for going abroad.

How will grades transfer back to Regis?

Transfer credit will be awarded for all appropriate courses completed through any of the programs listed in this brochure. Students must, however, get approval for the courses abroad from their major advisor. Courses abroad must be passed with the grade of C- or better in order to receive credit. Grades are not factored into the Regis GPA.
