Communication
Mission Statement
The scholarship and teaching in The Communication Department at Regis University works to increase our understanding of the nature, process, and practice of face-to-face and mass-mediated communication. We use a variety of theoretical and applied approaches to engage students in examining communication in diverse contexts, including interpersonal, group, organizational, and media studies.
- In the Jesuit tradition, communication students are encouraged to question, confront, and embrace the world. We facilitate student exploration of communication issues and dilemmas with the goal of creating communication practices in line with the common good. We are committed to empowering future leaders to make ethical and effective contributions to civic and professional organizations.
- Whether our students pursue careers in journalism, education, law, management and organizational consultation, mediation, television, theater and video arts, public relations, or advertising, they are prepared to create responsible messages and facilitate conscientious conversations and decision making.
- The department has an extensive network of internships in the Denver area. Intern placements are available at major television and radio stations, print media, cable companies, public relations firms, advertising agencies, and non-profit organizations. Internship credit may be earned by students with advanced standing who have demonstrated above average ability and professional interest.
