Housing Accommodations Application Process
STEP 1: Complete General Housing Application
Prior to applying for disability-related housing accommodations, please ensure you have secured housing through the general housing application process explained on Front Porch, Regis University’s Online Housing Portal.
STEP 2: Complete Student Disability Services' (SDS) Housing Accommodations Application and Upload Documentation
After you have secured a housing contract, you can request disability-related accommodation(s) for your on-campus housing by completing the SDS Online Housing Accommodation Application. It is recommended that students submit their request as soon as possible as space availability for some housing accommodations is limited.
After you click on the submit button for the application, you will be prompted to upload documentation of your disability. We recommend uploading your documentation at this point in order to expedite the review process.
Generally, we recommend that your documentation meet the following requirements:
- It is provided by a qualified, licensed professional with whom you have an established relationship (for example: a medical doctor, psychiatrist, psychologist, school psychologist, etc.)
- It is current and relevant
- It clearly states the diagnosed disability or disabilities
- It describes the relationship between the functional limitations associated with the disability and how the accommodation will afford an equal opportunity in university housing
- It describes how the diagnosis was made. As additional support to establish that the provider is appropriately informed of the circumstances of the specific student, providers often include information such as the nature and duration of the therapeutic relationship with the student, the number of visits, and/or the diagnostic methodology used.
- Please Note: Letters from online vendors will not be accepted as adequate documentation for an ESA.
Once your documentation is submitted, SDS will review your application, generally within 7-10 business days. However, please note that, during high-volume periods (especially the months before and after term starts and the week of midterms or final exams), we may need up to 21 business days to complete our review. Once complete, we’ll let you know via your Regis email. Please keep in mind that documentation that is incomplete, outdated or missing information may delay our review of your request. Single room accommodation requests are considered by the Special Housing Committee.
STEP 3: Schedule Your Intake Appointment
Once we have completed our review, we will reach out to you through your Regis email to schedule your intake appointment. This is when we will discuss your questions and concerns, your requested accommodations, and any relevant procedures and services available through SDS.
STEP 4: Inform Your Accommodations Advisor of Housing Needs Each Academic Year
If you are approved for housing accommodations, you will need to meet with your Accommodations Advisor prior to room sign-ups to discuss your continued need for housing accommodations.
