Admissions Guidelines
In order for students interested in the nursing program to get the most out of their time at Regis, special admissions guidelines have been set in place. The pre-nursing program is designed for high school and undergraduate students to complete the Traditional BSN program prerequisites.
Our primary goal is to set students up for success, and we believe that students will succeed in the Traditional BSN program if they meet the requirements listed below.
High School Requirements
To be admitted into the pre-nursing program as a freshman, students must have the following:
- Minimum 3.25 cumulative grade point average
- "B's" or higher in sciences and math
- Minimum 23 ACT or 1050 SAT (CR + M)
Given that nursing requirements are higher than those of other majors, we invite you to consider the many areas of study available at Regis.
Students meeting the following requirements at the end of sophomore year are eligible to progress into the Traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing program without additional application:
- Newly matriculated freshman at Regis University (specifically Regis College)
- Cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or above (includes course work completed at Regis College and any other regionally accredited institutions at which student has completed course work)
- Cumulative science grade point average of 3.0 or above calculated from the following courses: CH206A/207A Chemistry lab/lecture, BL 274/275 Anatomy lab/lecture, BL 276/277 Physiology lab/lecture, BL 254/255 Microbiology lab/lecture

- Recommendation from your pre-professional academic adviser
- No more than 9-semester hours of course work outstanding after completion of summer semester prior to progression into junior year. Outstanding courses can only include religious studies, Health Care Ethics and/or electives. All departmental requirements must be completed.
No additional application is required if you meet the criteria of the seamless progression policy. You will automatically progress into the nursing program, after completing the prerequisites and maintaining the necessary conditions of eligibility through Regis College.
Consider the features of the unique seamless progression policy, in addition to the outstanding reputation of the Regis nursing program when choosing which college to attend this fall.
Students not meeting the seamless progression requirements listed above must submit application materials for review by the Loretto Heights School of Nursing Student Affairs Committee. Admission into the Traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is not guaranteed. Applicants are competitively reviewed based on the following criteria: cumulative grade point average, science grade point average, recommendations, personal essay, volunteer/health care experience.
