Sarah Stoneback teaches applied trumpet at Regis University.  As a Conn-Selmer Bach clinician, Stoneback has presented educational/inspirational seminars and assemblies as Stoneback Sisters (Triplet Trumpet Trio) and Brass (Trumpet Quartet & Brass Quintet) in schools throughout the United States. As part of these performing groups, she has participated in the presentation of more than 2,000 performances in the form of community concerts, solo engagements with numerous professional bands and orchestras and provided workshops, and residencies throughout the United States and Europe. Feature solo performances include Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra, and the Saint Louis Symphony Pops, Best of the West Festival, The Encore Band (on the mall-Washington, DC), the John Philip Sousa Band, Iowa All Military Veterans Band, South Dakota Symphony, Interlochen Wind Ensemble, Arizona State University Symphony Orchestra, as well as the Texas Christian University Wind Ensemble and the United States Air Force Band of the West.

Stoneback has toured with the German based brass ensemble, Eurobrass on their United States and Germany tours during the summers of 2011, 2013 and 2014. During the 2014 Eurobrass tour, Dr. Stoneback recorded with Eurobrass on its fourth CD recording, “Praise the Lord, All You Nations.”

As a member of Flatirons Brass, Stoneback has participated in numerous national competitions and world tours. In 2009 the group was recipient of the Bronze medal in the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and competed again in 2010 and 2012. In 2011, Flatirons brass worked as artists in residence at the University of Renmin in Beijing, China. The group conducted workshops, provided individual instruction and performed recitals.

In May 2014, Stoneback graduated with her doctorate in music performance and pedagogy with an emphasis in trumpet from the University of Colorado, Boulder. She holds a master’s in music and trumpet performance, CU Boulder 2010, where she has studied with Professor Terry Sawchuk. Stoneback has a bachelor’s degree in trumpet performance from Arizona State University where she studied with Regent’s Professor David Hickman. She is a graduate of the Interlochen Arts Academy, class of 2000, where she studied with Stanley Friedman.

2013

Recently appointed the Applied Trumpet Teacher at Regis University in Denver, Colorado. As an affiliate of Regis, is responsible for giving trumpet instruction to undergraduate students.

1994 – Present

Member of Stoneback Brass & Stoneback Sisters: Professional trumpet performer / clinician and member of Stoneback Brass & Stoneback Sisters Trumpet trio, trumpet quartet and brass quintet. Soloing with bands and orchestras in U.S. and Europe. Conducted over 300 workshops and master classes for the following: K-12, collegiate, university, professional educators. Conducting workshops, masterclasses, residencies and clinics throughout the U.S. Performed over 2,500 concerts and appearances since 1992.

2008 – present

Member of Flatirons Brass: Graduate Brass Quintet, University of Colorado, Boulder. The Flatirons Brass was the graduate brass quintet in residence at the University of Colorado at Boulder. The quintet consists of Master and Doctoral students pursuing degrees in performance and pedagogy. In 2009 The Flatirons Brass Quintet were prize-winners at the internationally recognized Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. The ensemble focuses on a diverse repertoire ranging from school demonstrations to full recitals featuring original transcriptions and arrangements. Flatirons Brass is also active in chamber competitions yearly.

2010 - 2012

Graduate Lead: Selected as a music lead in the Graduate Teaching Program at the University of Colorado at Boulder. The Graduate Teaching Program is designed to prepare graduate students to be future faculty members. This includes working with graduate students in other disciplines across the university to present interdisciplinary workshops. Leads develop plans, schedules and materials for the execution of activities in the home department. I designed and implemented four semesters of workshops as part of the College of Music Workshop Series. I coordinated guest speakers to present on a variety of topics pertaining to teaching at the collegiate level, as well as other professional development topics. Candidates’ applications must be approved by their department chair and TA supervisor/coordinator (or other faculty as required by the department).

Teaching Assistant: Duties as Trumpet Graduate Assistant at University of Colorado Boulder include: member of graduate brass quintet, Flatirons Brass, directing small trumpet ensembles, providing group lessons on a weekly basis. Teaching select trumpet performance and education undergraduate level students, ensemble participation.

Eurobrass: Member of Eurobrass, German-based brass ensemble and joined their Summer 2011 United States Tour and Germany Tour in 2013. The Eurobrass ensemble is the flagship of the non-profit organization "Eurobrass - music that goes beyond." The organization was formed in March 2009 and is located in Königsfeld, Germany.

Performed in Hot Mikado with as part of the Centerstage Theatre Company from June 9-16 at Louisville Middle School in Louisville, Colorado.

Leonard Bernstein’s Chichester Psalm: Performed the Chichester Psalm under the direction of Evanne Brown at the Boulder First United Methodist Church.

Cheyenne, Wyoming Symphony: Trumpet sub with the Cheyenne Symphony during for their final concert of the season. Performed works such as: Edvard Grieg's Peer Gynt Suite No. 1; Richard Wagner's "Ride of the "Valkyries" and "Wotan's Farewell and Magic Fire Music;" and Camille Saint-Saens' Symphony No. 3 "Organ Symphony."

Cabaret: From July 13 – July 22 performed in Cabaret pit at The Dairy Center For the Arts, Boulder, Colorado as part of Centerstage Theatre Company productions.

Archbishop - Installation service: Featured trumpet performer at The Most Rev. Samuel J. Aquila's installation service as new archbishop of Denver. Held at Denver’s Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception.

Estes Park Winter Music Festival: Presented a solo cornet recital, highlighting the music and history of Herbert L. Clarke under the baton of John Philip Sousa.

The Best Should Teach Award: Two-time recipient of ‘The Best Should Teach’ award. The Best Should Teach Initiative embodies a legacy dear to the University.
