Chemistry Department Overview
The Regis Chemistry Department is accredited by the American Chemical Society and provides majors in both chemistry and biochemistry. Our six full-time faculty have expertise in the areas of organic, inorganic, physical, biological, and analytical chemistry. We are proud of the fact that our faculty (not teaching assistants) personally teaches laboratory classes, which are typically small and interactive. The Department is well-equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation, including GC-MS, FT-IR, NMR, fluorimetry, HPLC, FPLC, AA, electrochemistry, and UV/vis. Our students get hands-on time with our instrumentation in all lab courses, regardless of level. Our lecture classes also are small. Upper division courses in chemistry generally have no more than 10 – 15 students per class.
As faculty, we take pride in the fact that we know our students’ names and have an open-door policy. We encourage interaction and discussion in the classroom, and feel that the one-on-one interaction with most students allows us to provide the highest quality scientific degree possible. Students graduate from our rigorous program with a well-rounded sense of the field of chemistry, and the majority of our graduates pursue post-graduate work in chemistry or medicine.

Chemistry Club
The Chemistry Club membership is open to all those with an interest in the science of Chemistry and/or Biochemistry regardless of your major. Last year, among other things, we visited the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL)in Golden, and Array Pharmaceutical Laboratory in Boulder. Learn more by contacting the Chemistry Club advisors for the 2012-3 academic year, Dr. John Jean and Dr. Stacy Chamberlin.
