Writing Tips, Tricks & Support

The Regis Writing Program offers support to students, faculty, and staff in all stages of writing. In addition to writing, this program also is involved in literacy, critical thinking, and writing to learn/learning to write. Because Regis University emphasizes writing across the curriculum, writing in all disciplines--from biology to math to literature--has a writing component. We support writers through:

The Writing Center

This friendly place in Loyola offers coffee, computers, and consultants. The Writing Center has been a supportive environment for writers of all abilities since 1989. From brainstorming to revising, we are here to help students, faculty, and staff at any stage of writing because we assert that good writing comes from REwriting. We also believe that the written product is important, so we help with grammar and usage and suggest ways to proofread final drafts. Although we do not guarantee "A" papers, we do offer the resources necessary for improving both writing and writers.

The Writing Center is located in Loyola 1 and is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday. In addition, consultants work in the dorms Sunday through Thursday from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Please call 303.458.4924 to make an appointment.

Reflections

This literary magazine has been published annually since 1975. The Regis College student editors consider submissions of poetry, short stories, essays, and black and white photographs for inclusion in the current issue. Click for submission guidelines.

Workshops

Every semester, writing consultants offer workshops on topics of interest to students. Past topics have included using MLA and APA documentation, concluding your writing, brainstorming for ideas, and creating thesis statements. Please call 303.458.4924 for more information.

The Grammar Hotline

Call 303.458.4924 for quick answers to brief questions about usage and grammar.

Handouts

Including MLA and APA formats, comma usage, creating an outline, and other topics: Stop by Loyola 1 for these free handouts. Click for APA or MLA formats. You may also want to check Purdue University's Writing Center website at for their extensive downloadable materials.

All activities in the Writing Program are centered around creating better writers who can think critically and use writing as a way to learn and to communicate. Please call us at 303.458.4924 if there is any way we can help you!
