University Presidents Wager Local Goods on Super Bowl

January 29, 2014

(DENVER) – Regis University President Father John Fitzgibbons, S.J., and Seattle University President Father Stephen Sundborg, S.J.,  today placed a friendly university-to-university wager on the Super Bowl.

Fr. Fitzgibbons wagered a bottle of Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey while Fr. Sundborg wagered the Seattle area’s finest salmon on the outcome of Sunday’s highly anticipated game between the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks.

As two of only 28 Jesuit Catholic universities in the United States, both schools offer unique learning opportunities aimed at educating the whole person and inspiring a tradition of service among students.

Loyola University Maryland and University of San Francisco, also Jesuit universities, made a similar wager in 2013 when the Baltimore Ravens faced the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl.
