Located on the Northwest Denver campus, Tutoring Services offers Regis University students academic support through in-person sessions primarily. Although academic tutors may be available for walk-in sessions, we strongly encourage making an appointment to ensure that a tutor will be available to work with you.

Tutoring Services also offers 10 hours a year of free online tutoring support via Smarthinking.

Who We Are

The Tutoring Services team comprises a combination of faculty-nominated peer academic tutors and administrative staff. All our tutors have a passion for helping other students improve their study skills and reach their educational goals.  Tutors receive training on an ongoing basis to keep up-to-date with best practices.

What We Do

At Regis University’s Tutoring Services, our main goal is to provide students individualized, and group tutoring assistance, in various subject areas to support and enhance their academic experience at Regis  University. Academic tutors are flexible with students’ learning styles and work collaboratively with students, helping them navigate study material, and providing strategies that promote development of short and long term study goals.

While tutors can help with basics and more, they prefer that students prep for sessions with specific questions about assigned texts/problems, have awareness of in-class instruction, and bring necessary tools. They know it is difficult to learn everything in one session, and desire that students allow themselves time to work toward their educational goals.

What to Expect from a Tutoring Session

  • Tutors will ask students what they are working on and what they need help with.
  • Tutors will ask students for assignments/rubrics, and anything else necessary for the session.
  • Tutors and students will work on the session’s agenda together.
  • Tutors can help with a host of study areas including topic comprehension, definition, illustration, preparation, computation, analysis, study tips, practicing, quizzing, reviewing, etc.
  • Tutors will encourage students to be active participants in the study process.
  • Tutors will not do/fix the work for students.
  • Academic tutors are available to students whose courses match available subject areas. To work with a tutor, please make an appointment through our scheduler.

Tutoring Services Mythbusters

MYTH: Tutors have/will give me all the answers.

FACT: Tutors do not have all the answers. While they can help with basics and more, it is at times challenging for them to answer specific questions without preparation. Use the "What would you like to work on today?" section on the appointment form to better equip your tutor for your session. Similarly, tutors do not have ready-made answers to quizzes, tests, and exams.

MYTH: Tutors will do/fix my work for me.

FACT: Tutors cannot do/fix your homework for you; however, depending on the subject and your level of attention and participation, they will help you with a host of study areas including topic comprehension, definition, illustration, preparation, computation, analysis, practicing, quizzing, reviewing, study tips, etc.

MYTH: Tutors will have/know what I need for my session.

FACT: Tutors cannot know what you need and greatly appreciate students who prep for sessions beforehand, have specific questions about assigned texts/problems, have awareness of in-class instruction, and bring necessary tools (books, notes, formulas, calculators, assignments, rubrics, etc.).

Also, remember that it is difficult to learn everything in one session. Give yourself and your tutor time to make your tutoring sessions productive.

Tutoring Services complements classroom instruction by providing one-to-one and small group tutoring in many disciplines. To schedule in-class orientations and workshops by Tutoring Services, recommend potential tutors, and for answers to any questions, concerns, or requests you might have, please contact:
