Step #1

CHECK out possibilities. Visit with your college or university to discuss which tests may fit your degree requirements. It is your responsibility as a student to make sure the exam you take is the one you need. Review CLEP and DSST exams offered in our testing center as well as passing test scores or general course equivalencies for CLEP & DSST exams.

Step #2

Have your personal calendar ready, and proceed to Step #3 for Registration.

REGISTER: To access and complete your registration, click on the link below . (The application will open in a separate window.) NOTE: Registration times close five (5) days prior to the test date or as soon as all seats are reserved.

Step #4

STUDY for your exam! Focus on the study guide materials provided by the appropriate testing company.

For CLEP exams

  • Free study resources are available at on base or off base libraries.
  • The official CLEP and DSST study guides can be purchased from off base bookstores or the internet.
  • REMEMBER all Registration times close five (5) days prior to the test date or as soon as all seats are reserved. Register early!
  • There is no registration fee for DANTES-funded eligible examinees.
  • For civilians and military personnel retaking an exam, a $35 non-refundable/non-transferable registration fee is payable at the time of registration. The remaining balance is payable on the day of the exam. Note: DSST does not accept Discover.
  • Test scores for retake exams taken by military personnel are not sent to AFAEMS or CCAF. The examinee must request and pay for a transcript to be sent to his/her respective military transcript service. For information on how to request for a copy of your test score transcript please visit the CLEP website at CLEP Scores & Transcripts, or the DSST website at DSST Military.
  • When signing up for exams, you may only sign up for ONE exam in a specific time slot. If you wish to take multiple exams within one day, you must register for different time slots.
  • Walk-in examinations are not permitted.
  • Bring on the day of the exam: A picture ID, and one additional form of identification such as a passport, student ID, or employee ID. We will provide any pencils, paper, or calculators needed for your exam.
  • Please check-in ten minutes before your test time.
