Exams offered at Regis University

CHALLENGE Exams

Regis University Challenge Exams have been prepared addressing the outcomes of specific CPS courses. For a list of specific exams, go to the Exam List & Study Guide.

Students that live outside Colorado, please click here Testing for Distance Learners for information on how to take a Challenge Exam as a distance student.

Please check the scheduling calendar for available dates to schedule an in-house exam.  When registering for a Challenge Exam please select "Challenge" within the drop menu in the Select a Test section on the application form.

Challenge Exams have several formats: take-home, proctored at an approved site, or a combination of both. A take-home exam is emailed to the student by 8AM on the test date specified on the registration confirmation. The date the exam must be returned is stated within the email. A completed take-home exam can be returned via email or mail. A copy of the original exam must be included with the completed exam packet. Students who want to challenge an exam that is part proctored, part take-home must complete the proctored part before receiving the take-home part. The take-home portion will be handed to the student thereafter.

A student is allowed only one attempt to pass a Challenge exam. If a "No-Pass" grade is awarded, the exam cannot be repeated. As part of the registration for a Challenge Exam you are required to submit an essay between 150-200 words explaining your experience, qualification, and background that would qualify you to challenge the course.

Note: Students who do not pass a Challenge Exam, may not utilize the PLA portfolio process for the same course challenged. If the course challenged is a requirement within the student’s major, and the student does not pass, the course must be taken at Regis University.

Speech Challenge Exam

The COM210 Speech Challenge is offered on a limited schedule each semester. Detailed information about the COM210 Speech Challenge Exam can be found in the COM 210 Speech Challenge Information Packet.

Students are also welcome to observe a Speech Challenge Exam. To sign up and observe a COM 210 Speech Challenge, please register online at https://secure.regis.edu/testing/application.aspx (under the “Select a Test” dropdown menu, please select, OBSERVER Speech Challenge - COM210).   Space is available on a first-come, first-served basis.  (Please note that requests must be made 5 days prior to the date of the exam.)
