Dr. Dakin has a talent for converting innovations into businesses: working with all of the complexities and uncertainties that need to be reduced to a workable plan and validated by market acceptance within a sustainable business model. He seeks opportunities to put this talent to work where it will do the most good.
Dr. Dakin has demonstrated excellence and leadership in new business startups and new product development in his 32 years of work experience. With high integrity, he takes market solutions from concept to operational businesses in a creative, aggressive and charitable style.
He is an extraordinary communicator with expertise in collaboration, social enterprises, new product development and commercialization, early stage private equity funding, intellectual property management, and charitable community relations.
Dr. Dakin's career has included business, education, government and charitable positions as well as numerous projects within many industries and many positions of responsibility. He holds a license to practice law in the State of Colorado.
In 2011, he accepted the position of Executive Director of the Sullivan Chair for Free Enterprise at Regis University where he works to develop entrepreneurship programs. He led the formation of the Colorado Capital Congress a citizen led public forum for improving access to capital by Colorado Businesses. He started the Regis Entrepreneur Club which is being staged to grow into a business incubator. In addition, he is leading efforts to launch of a neighborhood information center as a community impact investment.
Dr. Dakin is the owner of Karl Dakin LLC where he shares his knowledge and experience as a speaker, writer and educator on innovation and small business.
He is a principal or mentor to several startup businesses that includes My Interest Broker, Gravaton Energy, and Veritek Inc.
