Answering Drug-Related Questions
ABOUT US
The Regis University School of Pharmacy Drug Information Service is a free resource for health care professionals associated with the School of Pharmacy including preceptors and faculty.
Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) students in their final year of the professional pharmacy program participate in five-week experiential rotations at the Drug Information Service. Students are trained in database utilization, effective searching, and evaluation of the literature using evidence-based techniques.
The service is available weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., excluding school holidays.

Information required includes:
- Your name and contact information (phone number or email)
- Question you would like answered
- Patient demographics (age, weight)
- Pertinent lab values
- Any other information you think we need
Questions from health care professionals will be extensively researched using resources available at the Dayton Memorial Library, the Regis University Library.
Types of Questions
- Drug Information questions may include, but are not limited to:
- Adverse medication reactions
- Appropriate dosing for all types of patients
- Clinical practice guidelines
- Complementary and alternative medicine topics
- Dosing adjustment for renal/hepatic insufficiency
- Drug identification
- Drug use in pregnancy and lactation
- Drug-drug, drug-food interactions
- Foreign medication identification
- Intravenous compatibility
- Off-label use of medications
- Therapeutic use of drugs
The Drug Information Service is also able to help you with providing written summaries on drug-related topics, drug therapy guideline development, medication use evaluation development, literature searches, summarizes of new drug approvals, drug monographs and other drug-related projects.
