I believe in treating students as peers as well as companions on the road of knowledge and path of life-long learning.  There is no such thing as a question that is not worth asking.  Nor is there shame in not knowing an answer.  We are all students in this journey.  Critical to the educational process is understanding each individual student and promoting an atmosphere of concern, not only for their educational goals but as their development as a member of our profession and our community.  Paramount to achieving this goal is providing them a solid foundation of knowledge that is not predicated on memorization of facts but on fundamental understanding of the topic at hand.  In addition, it is vital to work with students to develop their skills as independent critical thinkers who have the tools to approach new problems as they arise in their personal and professional lives.
