Opportunities to explore and grow in faith

In addition to Mass during the week and on weekends, University Ministry offers events throughout the school and throughout the year for Regis University students to come together and further explore and enrich their faith and spirituality.

CURA

What is Cura?

"Cura" is derived from the Latin phrase cura personalis, the Ignatian concept of “care of the whole person.” CURA participants gather with other students to engage in conversation about faith and spirituality and what it means to live them out. CURA members participate in social as well as service activities and explore different ways of praying.

All students with a desire to learn more about their Christian faith, build lasting bonds of friendship and reflect on their lives are welcome and encouraged to come experience what CURA is all about. Peer Ministry

The peer minister position at Regis is a student leadership opportunity sponsored by University Ministry and the Office of Residence Life, Housing and Event Services. The peer minister’s primary responsibility is to assist in the work of University Ministry by promoting the spiritual development and faith awareness of students in a residence hall. Programs and office hours allow for conversation about important issues in students' daily lives.

The peer minister is commissioned by University Ministry to serve his/her fellow students in a variety of ways:

  • Open-door hours in the residence halls
  • Promoting spiritual programs
  • Being available to the students for fellowship and referral opportunities
  • Fostering a sense of welcome and community
  • Helping others explore their faith

Or you can attend one of our Information Sessions which are typically held in early December. Applications and personal recommendations are generally due mid-January. All application and timeline information can be found on the Student Staff website.

Work Study Positions

One great way to get involved in University Ministry is to work there! We pride ourselves on creating a fun (but productive!) work environment where students can learn valuable ministry skills. Our hope is to help you become a leader in your faith community — now and beyond Regis. Applications for fall semester are usually available in late February or early March.

RCIA: Inquiry/Initiation into the Catholic Faith

RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) is the process by which adults can enter the Catholic Church, or complete their Sacraments of Initiation. This year, the group meets on Sunday evenings following the 7:30 p.m. Mass. Please join us if you are interested in becoming Catholic, completing your initiation or simply learning more about the Catholic faith.

Spiritual Direction

Spiritual direction is the traditional name for a simple reality – looking at your experience in the company of a traveling companion. This companion can share your hopes, support you in your fears and help you notice and respond to God. To arrange spiritual direction with a priest or other available person, please contact the Office of University Ministry at 303.458.4153.

Retreat Leadership

Interested in serving on one of our retreat leadership teams? We need many students to offer their gifts and talents in service to their peers. Applications come out during the middle of the spring semester for the following academic year’s retreats. Contact Becky Camacho-Frank for more information.

Food for Thought

Food for Thought is sponsored by the Cura program and provides a time for students to share a simple meal and receive spiritual nourishment though the company of other students, a guest speaker or another type of activity. Food for Thought is held once a month on Monday evenings. For more information, contact the Cura Team in the Office of University Ministry.

Romero House Hospitality Nights

Romero House is an intentional community of students living together to explore issues of faith, spirituality and social justice. Two Monday evenings a month (6-8 p.m.) they open their home for hospitality nights. All are welcome to join them for a simple meal and good conversation about a relevant social justice topic.

Wednesday Night Worship

Every Wednesday night at 9 p.m. (while Regis College is in session), students gather in the side chapel to pray together. The prayer form varies, but it is always a great study break and a chance to enjoy some beautiful student-led prayer and some great fellowship. Music is live and student-led, and there is something for everyone!  We do Taizé prayer, praise and worship, interfaith prayer, and more — definitely worth checking out!

Spirituality on Tap

One Thursday evening a month, we co-host an event with Fr. Bart Geger in Walker’s Pub.  These events are informal and aimed at getting people thinking and talking about issues in spirituality. It’s a great place to bring those burning questions you’ve had for awhile. You do not need to be 21 to participate!

Eucharistic Adoration

The Catholic Student Association offers weekly opportunities for Catholic students to deepen their faith and practice. Adoration takes place one Tuesday evening a month at 9 p.m. in the side chapel. 

Mass of the Holy Spirit

Each September, we honor the ancient tradition of the Mass of the Holy Spirit, by gathering as a community in the St. John Francis Regis Chapel to kick off our academic year. 

Lessons & Carols

Each December (usually the last day of classes), we celebrate the Festival of Lessons and Carols — whereby we celebrate the holy season of Advent in scripture, song and story.
