(DENVER) – For the past 15 years Yvonne Williams, a cataloguing supervisor in the Regis University Dayton Memorial Library (DML), has created a Black History Month exhibit at the University’s North Denver campus.  This year’s exhibit, which is on display through the end of February 2013 in the DML‘s Margaret and Doyle Hartman Gallery, includes sample squares of the underground railroad secret code.  The quilts crafted signaled, messaged and instructed the conductor or escaping slaves how to reach freedom in the North.  Also on display is a 1960s-era hand-pieced and stitched quilt created by native American sisters in the American South.
