The 9Health Fair – Colorado’s largest nonprofit, volunteer-driven health fair – is set to return to Regis University for its 18th year Saturday, April 5, to offer free and low-cost health screenings to the community. Those 18 and older are encouraged to attend and take advantage of this opportunity to make their health a priority.
Regis has mobilized 200 volunteers including students, faculty and staff from its nursing, physical therapy, pharmacy, counseling and health services administration programs to offer this service to the community.
“Hosting the 9Health Fair is a shining example of how the Jesuit mission comes to life here at Regis,†Abdelhamid said. “It allows students, faculty and staff to come together to meet the needs of the surrounding community and especially the needs of those individuals who may have minimal or no access to basic health care.â€
Those interested in attending can register in advance at 9healthfair.org or at the fair. All are asked to not eat 12 hours before having blood drawn, continue taking prescribed medications and drink plenty of water before having blood drawn. Diabetics should not fast. Participants should bring their own water.
In its history at Regis University, the 9Health Fair has served more than 6,500 community members.
This year’s fair runs 7 a.m. to noon in Loyola Hall and the Coors Life Directions Center on Regis' North Denver (Lowell) Campus, 3333 Regis Blvd. The fair will feature interactive health education exhibits, opportunities to get referrals and more than two dozen free or low-cost screenings, including:
Heart Health (Blood Pressure/Pulse Oximetry/Metabolic Syndrome Screening/Cardiac Risk Assessment)
Stress Management Screening
Lung Function Screening
Bone Health (Osteoporosis Screening)
Breast Screening/Mobile Mammography
Pap Smear Screening
