EDGT 600 - Introduction to the Gifted Learner
Overview and general knowledge about gifted education as well as history, theories, educators, and research. Addresses topics such as characteristics and needs of gifted children, brain-research, creativity and successful strategies.
EDGT 601 - Indentification and Curriculum
Focuses on identification of gifted and talented students; development of curriculum and teaching practices centered on current research models in this field.

EDGT 602 - Affective and Social Needs
Addresses affective and social needs of gifted learners such as learning styles, multiple intelligences, stress, perfectionism, gender issues, parent role, resources, choices and challenges of being gifted.

EDGT 603 - Special Populations in GT
Studies areas of exceptionalities with gifted students; includes identification, assessment, and interventions for twice-exceptional, profoundly gifted, under-achieving student, ethnically, linguistically and culturally diverse students as well as the socio-economically deprived student.

EDGT 604 - Critical Issues in GT
Investigates program evaluation and impact on student achievement. Includes assessment, leadership and stakeholders in educating the gifted learner. Examines the impact of local, state, national legislation as well as parent organizations.

EDGT 605 - Divergent Thinking in GT Education
Focuses on the problems in teaching critical and creative thinking. Includes strategies and activities for teaching about thinking and metacognition.

EDGT 612 - Gifted Program Design
Examines program models such as RTI, IB, advanced placement, community college partnership as well as public and private schools for gifted and talented students. NOTE: Field component required.

EDGT 614 - Seminar in Gifted Education
Students will meet with experts to study and evaluate research in current topics related to the gifted learner. Focus may vary each year.

EDGT 646 - Professional Project: GT
Students research and complete an individual project based upon an area of study from within the curriculum offerings. Projects will be presented.
