2012-2013 Compact Service Corps
Compact Service Corps, an AmeriCorps program, is available to specific groups in education and health care. We have a limited number of post-service awards for students who qualify.
Education - College for Professional Studies (CPS)
Student Teachers
If you have a passion for serving in a high-needs school or have a qualifying specialization, Compact Service Corps is the right program for you. Please see the following criteria to help determine if you qualify for the program.
Site Placement:
- Title I status
- Free and Reduced Lunch percentages (greater than or equal to 50%)
- Statewide Academic Assessment Tests (with low or unsatisfactory rating)
If your site does not qualify you may still be able to join the program if you have one of the following specializations:
- Special Education
- ESL/Bilingual Education

Healthcare - Rueckert-Hartman College for Health Professions
School of Nursing, School of Physical Therapy, School of Pharmacy
If you would like to complete your clinical rotations providing primary and preventative care in underserved areas or populations, rural communities, or among uninsured or underinsured individuals, Compact Service Corps may be a good fit for you. Please see the following criteria to help determine if you qualify for the program.
Site Placement:
- Nonprofit or governmental health care facilities in Colorado, except for those in Broomfield or Douglas Counties.
- Nonprofit health care facilities in other states, except for those in counties that are not designated as underserved/rural communities by AmeriCorps.
Nursing
- 2012-13 Nursing Enrollments: 26

Physical Therapy
- 2012-13 Physical Therapy Enrollments: 47
- Total Scholarships Earned: $56,687
Pharmacy
- 2012-13 Pharmacy Enrollments: 17
- Total Scholarships Earned: $19,975
Member Responsibilities
The specific responsibilities of members will vary with each placement site. However, certain responsibilities come with service in the Compact Service Corps program.
- Attend a mandatory orientation session to learn about the program and enroll.
- Turn in a monthly time log with thoughtful reflections signed by you and your site supervisor.
- Complete 300 or 450 service hours within the United States in one year or less.
- Work to develop a culture of community service on campus and in the community and facilities in which you work.
- Accomplish the goals that are outlined in your Service Plan for Success, completed by each member in cooperation with the site supervisor at the beginning of service term.
Basic Requirements to Qualify for Compact Service Corp
- You must be 17 years of age or older
- You must be a U.S. citizen or legal resident
- At the time of enrollment into the program, you must be a student (full-time or part-time) at Regis University
Member Benefits
Members may choose to complete one or more terms of service, each term earning one Educational Award, which may be applied to college tuition, repayment of an educational loan, or future tuition. Awards are paid directly to the lender or to the academic institution the member designates. Education awards can be used for up to seven years after completion of service.
- Earn $1175 upon successful completion of 300 service hours.
- Earn$1468 upon successful completion of 450 service hours.
- Opportunity to receive the Careers in the Common Good Scholarship as an active member.
- Opportunity to have a certain amount of interest paid on qualifying student loans during term of service
