What is the difference between commencement and graduation?

Commencement refers to the ceremony that celebrates graduation; graduation refers to the completion of all degree requirements. Participation in the commencement ceremony does not guarantee graduation.

Even though I am not participating in commencement will my name still be on the program?

All graduates who have submitted a graduation application by the graduation application deadline will be included on the program.

What is regalia?

Regalia or cap and gown is what graduates are required to wear at commencement. Baccalaureate students’ regalia consists of a black cap and gown and a tassel that corresponds to the degree they are receiving. Master students’ regalia includes a cap with a masters tassel, a gown (with oblong sleeves) and a hood that corresponds to their degree. Students can order their regalia at the Cap and Gown Fairs or online through the Regis Bookstore at www.regisuniversity@bkstr.com.

Do I have to order regalia?

All students who walk in commencement are required to wear regalia. Regalia is purchased through the Regis Bookstore, not rented, by the student and is theirs to keep after the ceremony.

How do I order my regalia?

Regalia is purchased through the Regis Bookstore and can be ordered by the following options: 1. Visit www.regisuniversity@bkstr.com. 2. Call 1.800.798.4153, Ext 4150 or 303.458.4150. 3. Attend a Grad Fair (students do not need to pre-order or RSVP to attend).

By when do I need to order my regalia?

Regalia must to be ordered on-line approximately one month prior to commencement. The Regis Bookstore will be at the commencement ceremony for last-minute changes, but it is strongly recommended for orders to be placed ahead of time to assure correct size of gown and color of tassel or hood.

Can I purchase just a tassel?

Yes, you can purchase tassels through the Regis Bookstore at the  Grad Fair or on-line through the Regis Bookstore.

How do I order graduation announcements?

Personalized announcements are provided by CB Graduation Announcements. They can be ordered by the following options: 1) Visit www.cbgrad.com 2) Call 1.800.433.0296 or 3) Attend a Graduate Salute Event

Will there be a photographer at commencement?

Three professional photos are taken of each student by GradTrak. GradTrak will automatically send proofs and an order form to the graduate’s regis.edu email address. If proofs are not received within two weeks after commencement, the student should call GradTrak at 1-800-283-1779.

I am graduating in the summer; when can I commence?

We have two commencement times to choose from: either Winter (December) or Spring (May). You will want to denote which commencement you will take part in when you submit your graduation application.

How many tickets do I receive for my guests?

Seating is unlimited at the spring and fall ceremonies. No tickets are needed and all are welcome to attend.

What do I do if I or my guests need special assistance?

Let one of our ushers know of your needs when you arrive and we will accommodate you. Please note that our Commencement Department does not have access to wheel chairs, etc.

How long will the ceremony last?

The ceremony is scheduled to last approximately two hours.

When do Doctor of Pharmacy students commence?

DPT students commence only in the Spring.

How do I find out about nurses pinning or hooding?

This is a separate event from our commencement. Please contact RHCHP for details on this event.

Are honor cords worn at the ceremony?

Regis does not have honor cords for GPA honors. Honor society cords or medallions are permitted. Please contact your honor society for more information. GPA honors are estimated and designated in the commencement program. These listed honors are estimated based on the current GPA at the time the program went to the printer, six weeks before commencement. Final honors are listed on the diploma and final transcripts.

Will I receive my diploma at commencement?

You will receive your diploma cover; however, all diplomas are mailed within12 weeks after the graduation date, provided you have met all requirements. During this timeframe the student’s degree is being conferred to ensure completion of all requirements.

Spring Ceremonies Only: At what time should I be at the Lowell Campus?

All graduates must arrive at the North Denver (Lowell) Campus one hour prior to the start of their ceremony. Graduates will assemble on the Fortune Plaza in front of the chapel for lineup. Guests of the graduates will proceed to the Boettcher Commons where the ceremony will take place. Guests are not allowed at line-up.
