Composer. Musicologist. Teacher. Performer.
Composer, musicologist, teacher, and performer Erich Katz (1900-1973) was one of the founders of the early-music movement in America and the honorary president of the American Recorder Society. The Erich Katz Collection includes correspondence, programs, publications, manuscripts, legal documents, photos, art, clippings, recordings, and Katz’s personal files for the American Recorder Society. The materials in this collection were saved by Erich Katz over his entire adult life from 1918 to 1973. After 1973, there are also items collected by others, such as condolence correspondence to Jaeger, articles about Katz, and programs from musical events held in his honor.
