Regis will welcome Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Leymah Gbowee of Liberia for a free public discussion Saturday, March 14.
Gbowee was instrumental in developing and leading a women’s peace movement in Liberia, which helped bring an end to the Second Liberian Civil War in 2003. She was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2011 for her work “for the safety of women and for women’s rights to full participation in peace-building work.”
Gbowee wrote “Mighty Be Our Powers: How Sisterhood, Prayer and Sex Changed a Nation at War,” has addressed audiences at a TED Talk, and travels the globe speaking on women’s rights, inequality, non-violent action and related topics.
